EFT supervision is a journey of slow transformation in which YOU, as the therapist, are at the centre.
It is extremely important that you do not feel alone in practising a model which, although wonderful and powerful, is also very demanding because it requires a great deal of human and emotional energy. Our focus, therefore, will not be, as you may have seen in other kinds of supervision, on the “case” in itself, but on the process and on your way of being in the session. The possibilities to grow, expand, and evolve your EFT “doing” and “being” as a therapist will be endless!
Therapists who know themselves well — including their strengths, conflicts, and inner issues that are activated in their countertransference — will be more able to apply EFT effectively. In order to help clients recognise and process their emotions and attachment needs, clinicians must be able to recognise and process their own emotions and attachment needs.
Palmer & Johnson
We will focus on your therapist self and on how you regulate your own emotions in the room. I will help you shape and refine EFT interventions in your day‑to‑day practice, so that they become part of you and not just something you “know” in theory. Together we will also cultivate empathy toward those clients you find more challenging, and learn how to elicit specific attachment responses in them.
The most effective way to see what you are already doing well and where you can grow is to watch a short segment of one of your sessions together. I know your anxiety may already be rising at the idea! We all fear being judged. Remember, though, that I am on your side: I will highlight your successes and strengths, and I will welcome your difficulties so we can use them as material for your growth.
To anchor your theoretical knowledge, I will offer you extra reading and resources you can go back to in specific situations. In this way, key concepts become more vivid and easier to apply in your clinical work, rather than remaining abstract ideas.
In supervision, you don’t just need to learn new things; you also need to understand whether you are actually learning them. We will keep track of how close you are to your goals and of the progress you are making over time. Step by step, I will provide you with reference points tailored to your current level, a kind of map for learning the EFT model. With this clear and structured approach, you will always know which aspects you want to refine in your learning journey.
